Maps and location analysis
you stay in control of.
Orbeex is free, open-source software for working with maps. Describe what you need in everyday language, review the plan, and approve it. Every action is recorded, reversible, and stays on your computer.
Apache-2.0 licensed · no telemetry · AI optional and opt-in
The problem
Powerful GIS, without the black box
Traditional GIS is capable but opaque. AI tools are convenient but leave you guessing what changed and where your data went.
Orbeex joins both. It is a full geographic information system with a native engine, and it accepts plain-language instructions — but it never runs anything you have not seen and approved. The result is analysis you can trust, explain, and reproduce.
How it works
Ask, plan, approve, execute
A short cycle that keeps you in control at every step.
- 01
You ask
In plain language, or with regular tools and menus.
- 02
Orbeex plans
Complex tasks are broken into clear steps, shown before anything runs.
- 03
You approve
Risky operations always require explicit confirmation, with a preview.
- 04
Orbeex executes
Locally, with every step recorded so you can review, undo, and repeat.

Capabilities
Built like real software, not a demo
The engine, the safety model, and the data handling are the product. Here is what that means in practice.
Plain-language workflows
Describe an analysis task. Orbeex proposes the steps and runs them after you confirm.
Deterministic and auditable
Every action is an operation in an append-only history. Review, undo, and reproduce any result.
Local-first processing
Map analysis runs on your machine. Data is not uploaded.
Bring your own AI
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Qwen, or a local model. Your keys, your choice — or no AI at all.
Native performance
A memory-safe Rust engine with GPU rendering, built for large datasets.
Cross-platform
Windows, macOS, and Linux. A browser build covers web use.
Your data
Your data stays on your computer
All map processing runs locally. Orbeex operates no servers that hold your data.
Nothing is uploaded by default
Files and analysis stay on your machine. There is no telemetry in the current version.
AI sends only what it must
When you use AI, only the task intent and dataset schema are sent — never your raw data.
You can turn AI off
AI features are optional. Use your own provider key, or work entirely without AI.
Current status
Honest about where we are
Orbeex is in active development. The engine and desktop application are being built now; there is no public release yet. The documentation describes how the finished product will work and what is already in place.
